Why does my oil level not showing correctly on the dipstick?
There could be a few reasons why your oil level isn't reading correctly on the dipstick. The oil has pooled at the bottom of the pan and isn't coating the dipstick. In this case, you would need to remove the dipstick, wipe it off, and reinsert it into the pan. There is debris or sludge build-up on the dipstick itself, which is preventing an accurate reading. To clean the dipstick, simply remove it from the engine and wipe it down with a clean rag. A wrong type of oil has been used, which can cause foaming and inaccurate readings. If this is the case, you will need to change the oil to the correct type and consult your owner's manual for further instructions.
